Amazon Prime Members Can Get an Exclusive Advance Showing of Aquaman

Amazon Prime continues to show why it’s becoming such a powerhouse on the streaming market. Amazon has been busy signing exclusive agreements with big-name partners like the NFL and HBO, offering content most streaming services don’t have the budget for. Amazon, though, has got an astronomical budget to throw around, so it’s no surprise that the online retail behemoth is able to make deals other streaming services can’t. The latest big-name deal to come to Amazon prime is already making waves in the cinema world: Amazon will offer its Prime members an exclusive advance showing of DC Comics’ new blockbuster Aquaman a week before the movie’s theatrical release.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), Amber Heard (Friday Night Lights), Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, and Dolph Lundgren. The trailer shows the film will be chock full of breathtaking underwater special effects, fantastic creatures, and all of the bone-crunching comic book combat these films have become known for.

Aquaman is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and one of the most talked about comic adaptations of the recent comic book cinema renaissance. The film was announced in 2004 but sat in development hell until 2014 when Warner Bros. finally put the film in development under director James Wan (Saw, Insidious). The comic book and film worlds have been counting down to the film’s release for years, making Amazon’s new exclusive screenings for Prime members one more reason for those on the fence to go ahead and join the Prime hivemind.

“Prime offers the best of shopping and entertainment and these early showings of Aquaman are yet another pleasant surprise for members, and one that I’m personally also looking forward to,” says Cem Sibay, Vice President of Amazon Prime. “We love delivering smiles whether it’s through an incredible deal during the holidays or inviting members on a journey to Atlantis with us in this action-packed adventure before anyone else.”

Amazon Prime members can purchase tickets for advance showings of Aquaman which will take place at 7:00 p.m. local time on December 15th, a whole week before the film’s nationwide release.
