UPDATE 4/1/17: The Apple TV deal is no longer available through DIRECTV NOW.
AT&T already made a big splash in the streaming world when they announced that their new DIRECTV NOW streaming service would cost just $35 a month for over 100 channels.
Now, new documents show that they’re not just making a splash, but their entry into the streaming market is going to be a cannonball of epic proportions: free Apple TVs and Fire Sticks to new customers.
Customers who sign up for 3 months of service will get a free Apple TV, and customers who sign up for just one month will get a free Fire Stick. Both of these devices on their own cost more than what customers will pay for their respective terms. A $105 commitment gets customers a $150 Apple TV, and a $35 commitment gets a Fire Stick that usually retails for about $40.
It appears that AT&T knows that not all customers have a streaming box, so they’re trying to make the cord-cutting process a little easier.
No matter how you look at it, this is a very enticing promotion, and it’s going to bring a lot of people to the streaming side for the first time.
