Frozen’s Kristen Bell Lends Her Voice to Netflix Documentary

Netflix has been attracting some of the world’s best on- and off-camera talent lately, even signing a year’s worth exclusive specials with the best comedians in stand-up. Now, one of the most sought-after voices in Broadway is bringing her incredible singing talent to a new original Netflix documentary. The documentary, called Chasing Coral, will feature a new original song performed by Kristen Bell, the voice behind Princess Anna from Disney’s 2013 international sensation Frozen. Bell sang on two of the Frozen soundtrack’s most iconic tracks, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” and “Love Is an Open Door”

Chasing Coral explores the state of the world’s coral reefs in the face of climate change and the effects the loss of these reefs could have on the planet’s fragile ecosystem. The film features stunning underwater photography of some of the most unexplored and little

Bell says her work on the film was inspiring, giving her hope about humankind’s ability to mitigate the disastrous effects human activity is having on the planet’s climate:

I was moved and inspired by Chasing Coral and its message of hope for our planet’s future. I feel a responsibility to care for the Earth in whatever way I can, and I was honored to lend my voice to the original song. As we strive to make a better world for our children, I hope this film will ignite real action in advancing climate solutions in our global communities.

Chasing Coral is directed by filmmaker Jeff Orlowski, best known for his work on the 2012 documentary Chasing Ice which offers a multi-length glimpse at the changes experienced by Earth’s glaciers. Chasing Coral premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it was awarded the Documentary Audience Award.

Chasing Coral premieres on Netflix on July 14 with a simultaneous limited theatrical release.
