Hulu has been aggressive lately in its push for new top-tier content. Hulu’s libraries have grown significantly in recent months thanks to several deals with some of the biggest distributors in the media world. Hulu recently added over 3000 episodes of both classic and contemporary 20th Century Fox television series as well as a huge package of animated adult sitcoms sure to please any animation fan. While some of those additions are still in the works, a massive trove of content is coming to Hulu in August 2017 that is sure to have a little something for everyone.
For cinephiles, Hulu is adding a massive dose of Oscar-winning films next month including Saving Private Ryan, As Good as It Gets, Arthur, High Noon, Reds, and the iconic supernatural love story Ghost starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg. In case you missed it, the 2013 drama/thriller Gimme Shelter arrives at the end of the month. Michael Shannon is both compelling and absolutely terrifying in the film, which perfectly captures the current American zeitgeist in light of recent economic and political turmoil. It’s definitely worth a watch – just make sure to have some nice, happy cartoons lined up for afterwards.
For nostalgic 30-somethings seeking to rekindle some of their childhood, a score of retro favorites are coming to Hulu next month including Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Bloodsport, Clueless, Benny and Joon, and the Keanu Reeves masterpieces Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
Leaving Hulu in August will be several fan favorite films including Martin Scorsese’s epic crime tale Gangs of New York, Girl, Interrupted, the first two Underworld films, and two Disney animated features, Hercules and Mulan.
