Hulu partners with ABC News to offer free live news to subscribers

In an effort to make sure that all of their subscribers stay on top of the news, Hulu is giving its customers a free resource.

To ensure everyone has timely access to important information about the Coronavirus outbreak, Hulu is partnering with ABC News Live to offer live news content to subscribers. Both Hulu tiers – ad-supported and ad-free – are a part of this offer, as is traditional Hulu on-demand and Hulu Live. It also includes people who have the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ bundle.

To access the new station, navigate to the “Hulu Picks” tab.

What pushed Hulu to make this offer? “More than 45 percent of Hulu viewers have either cut the cord or never had cable,” the streaming company said. “And may not have access to live, televised news to receive critical information during times of national crisis.”

Hulu Live has just over 3 million subscribers at present, and does have live news from MSNBC, CNN, and more, plus local news in many markets. But traditional Hulu has nearly 30 million subscribers, many of whom don’t have access to TV news.

Hulu isn’t the only streaming service making sure their subscribers stay plugged in. Sling TV recently debuted a “Stay in and Sling” promotion with free news, movies, TV shows and more.
