Hulu Orders Animated Comedy Based on Twitter Parody Account

Hulu is reportedly developing a new animated comedy series starring Adam Pally (Happy Endings). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be based on the @LosFelizDaycare Twitter account, a parody account which satirizes New Age and over-the-top protective parenting practices. The fictional account references to the day care’s coconut water fountains, a complete ban on all tree nuts, and mandatory daily mediation.

Some of @LosFelizDaycare’s Tweets include “Please have a weekend. We put no value on it and won’t project “good” or “bad.” Just hope it’s screen free” and “We want all of our toddler friends to speak their truths and express their feelings openly so we’re encouraging them all to start podcasts.”

Jason Shapiro, the brains behind the @LosFelizDaycare account, has signed on as a scriptwriter of Hulu’s new series alongside executive producer Erik Richter. Richter formerly served as executive producer on the Fox animated comedy American Dad. Adam Pally, who is set to lend his voice to the series, already stars in the Hulu original series The Mindy Project. Pally’s own Clone Wolf Productions will produce the series.

With each new announcement of original series, Hulu is showing itself to be a contender alongside Amazon Prime and Netflix as a full-on content studio. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale has already earned critical praise, and several other upcoming releases boast some serious star power including Seth Rogen, J.J. Abrams, and even an upcoming new Marvel series, The Runaways.
