On the heels of the release of their new Gilmore Girls reboot, which will be sure to attract a lot of attention from the female side viewership, Netflix has released a study that shows watching TV shows together actually helps strengthen mother-daughter bonds.

This study revealed that over half of women (53%) wish they spoke with their mother more often, and that 59% of mother-daughter duos surveyed stated that post show discussions are the best part of watching TV together.

Just under half of the women surveyed said that despite how far apart they may be physically, watching TV together brings them closer. One third of women surveyed lived half an hour away from their mother or daughter, but said they have specifically gone out of their way to watch TV physically together on “many occasions.”

Over 10,000 women from the US, Canada, the UK, Canada, Australia, and several other countries were interviewed for this study.
