Netflix’s Luke Cage Unleashes Action-Packed New Trailer

Marvel’s Luke Cage punches his way onto Netflix this fall, with the bulletproof hero debuting a 7-episode series on September 30. Now Netflix and Marvel have unleashed a new trailer to throw fuel on the hype fire. Check it out.

Netflix’s Luke Cage stars Mike Colter as a former convict gifted with “unbreakable skin” by an experiment gone wrong. Luke is trying to build a new life in Harlem, but trouble has a way of following him. Because he can’t ignore people who need his help, Luke is constantly called to protect the weak from the predatory and the powerful. The Luke Cage cast includes Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley, and Sonia Braga.

Of course, fans recall that Luke actually debuted in last year’s critically acclaimed Jessica Jones series. It’s all part of the plan that’s building toward the Defenders miniseries that will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the upcoming Iron Fist against a common enemy. Both Iron Fist and The Defenders are set to premiere in 2017.

The collaboration between Netflix and Marvel continues to be one of the most fascinating parts of the streaming landscape. The streaming giant and comic powerhouse have essentially extended the same philosophy of interconnected content to the small screen that’s worked so well at the movies. While the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has only connected to its big-screen progenitor in small ways, it’s just a matter of time before, say, Daredevil pops up in the Avengers. In the meantime, Netflix and Marvel continue to grow their corner of the MCU. In addition to planned new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Netflix has a Punisher solo series in the works starring The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal.

Both Marvel’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones are currently available streaming on Netflix.
