Apple doesn’t have a streaming service of their own, but their Apple TV device is slowing becoming a go-to destination for cord-cutters.
After inking a deal earlier this year with Sling TV, Sony has announced the launch of a Vue app for Apple TV, meaning subscribers can watch shows from AMC, Discovery, FX, ESPN, and other channels straight from their set top box. Depending on where customers live, certain live channels like NBC, Fox, ESPN, and NFL Network will be available too.
The service is available on 4th generation Apple TV devices and will include all the standard features of Vue’s like cloud DVR service and simultaneous streams (and it even works with the Siri Remote).
Customers can’t sign up for new a new Vue subscription straight from Apple TV however, so a web browser will be needed at least initially.
Sony has been expanding PlayStaion Vue to a number of new platforms recently, bringing service to Android devices last October and to the web just a week after that, which is a good thing considering that PlayStation Vue allows for five streaming devices to be used simultaneously.
Prices for Vue start at just under $30 a month depending on the plan.
