‘Transparent’ Teases Season 4 With New Trailer

Amazon’s award-winning drama Transparent is diving into its fourth season later this year, and the streaming network has decided to give fans an little glimpse. Transparent stars Jeffrey Tambor as Maura — born Morton — Pfefferman, a transgender woman finally embracing her true self late in life, even as her family must navigate the changes right along with her. The first show racked up an impressive 20 Emmy nominations over the course of its first few seasons, and eight wins, including back to back “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy” trophies for Tambor. If Amazon’s original series have a flagship, it’s Transparent.

Along with the teaser, Amazon has released a short synopsis for Transparent‘s new season:

In the new season, the Pfeffermans take off on a spiritual and political journey as they dig deep into their family’s history. Maura heads to Israel to speak at a conference and makes a startling discovery. Before long the rest of the family joins her for an explosive adventure. Adrift in the desert, Maura, Ali, Sarah, Josh, and Shelly ultimately set off on their own paths to find acceptance, love, and truth.

All the core cast are expected to return for Transparent‘s fourth season, along with creator/showrunner Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under). In addition to Tambor, Transparent stars Judith Light (Dallas) as Maura’s ex-wife, Shelly Pfefferman. Jay Duplass (Togetherness), Gaby Hoffmann (Girls), and Amy Landecker (Louie) co-star as Maura and Shelly’s grown children, Josh, Ali, and Sarah, respectively.

Along with The Man in the Castle, Transparent was one of the first shows that established Amazon as a serious player in the realm of original streaming entertainment, certainly the first real competitor for Netflix’s original dramas like House of Cards. Each new season of Transparent has become a major event for fans, and you can bet Amazon will let creator Jill Soloway keep telling stories about the Pfeffermans for as long as she wants (and as long as people keep watching).

Season four of Transparent will premiere later in 2017. The first three seasons are now available streaming on Amazon Prime.
