Tubi consistently ranks among the best free streaming services, and it looks like their numbers are starting to reflect that.
During their third quarter 2020 earnings call this week, CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced Tubu viewers watch over 200 million hours of content in April alone. That’s up 150% from the same month the previous year.
Of course, it’s worth noting that with the majority of the nation currently under “stay at home” orders, the streaming landscape is a little different this year compared to last, but it’s still very strong growth. The Masked Singer, which just started streaming last month thanks to Tubi’s acquisition by Fox, is the number one show on the platform at the moment.
No new data was given for total viewers, but the service did pass 25 million viewers last December, so that number is probably a good bit higher by now.
With over 20,000 free titles (over five times Netflix’ catalog), it’s not hard to see the appeal of Tubi. Sure, it’s ad-supported, so you’ll need to sit through some commercials, and most of the content is a bit older, but many people are perfectly willing to make that trade-off.
