Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Reveals Season Three Premier Date With ‘Lemonade’ Style Trailer

Season three of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is on the way, and we now know exactly when thanks to a new teaser from Netflix. And in signature style, it comes as a music number.

The new trailer doesn’t reveal a lot in the way of plot, but it does give up some important information in the form of a release date. And it tell us a side character will be making a return.

The newest trailer from the show features Titus Andromedon (played by Tituss Burgess) wielding a bat and bashing boyfriend Mikey’s truck window while wearing a yellow dress – an obvious send up to Beyonce’s hit “Hold Up” from her mega popular Lemonade album. As Titus twirls through the streets, he sings a version of the Beyonce song, replacing lyrics to fit his relationship with boyfriend Mikey.

Just before he sets off on his rampage through the streets of New York, Titus implores sings “I don’t care” several times to be camera before being interrupted by an off screen Kimmy Schmidt. “Kimberly, use your key, I am Lemonade-ing,” he shouts as he sets off.

Shortly after Titu’s bat crashes through a black pickup truck window, Mikey burst around the corner shouting, “Hey, lay off my truck!” He quickly realizes who the slugger is, and simply asks, “Titus?” While this doesn’t give us any new info about their relationship status, it does let us know that Mikey will be back for more action in season three.

The close of the teaser reveals that the third season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be released on May 19, only on Netflix.

The series, created by Tina Fey, was originally intended for airing on NBC, but found a home (and surprise success) on Netflix. The show has been nominated for 13 Emmy awards in various categories.
