YouTube TV Finally Arrives on the PS4

If you use a Playstation 4 for streaming and you’ve been awaiting the arrival of YouTube TV, your wait is over. Announced on YouTube TV’s Twitter page this week, the $49.99 a month streaming televison service is now available on the PS4.To find the app, just head to the PlayStation store. If you want to test things out, new users are eligible for a free trial.

Late last year, when Sony announced it would be closing its PlayStation Vue streaming service, it put the 500,000 person strong subscriber base up for bids. Google emerged the winner, making YouTube TV the recommended replacement for Vue.

This is the first live TV subscription service to land on the gaming console, outside of the now defunct PlayStation Vue. Netflix and other movie streaming apps are available, but not live TV. For some time now, Sony has kept TV streaming services off the platform, including Sling TV and Hulu TV. It’s not clear if this will pave the way for other streaming services to become available, or if this is an exclusive deal.

PlayStation 3 support is expected to arrive in the coming months.

YouTube TV offers 70 live cable channels plus live local television in most markets, plus an unlimited cloud DVR with no contract.
